Absolutely Appalling Service – UPS Montreal is a Total Disaster!
I am beyond frustrated with the incompetence and blatant dishonesty I encountered with UPS in Montreal. A package I had been eagerly waiting for was supposed to be delivered on Friday, January 3rd. I stayed home all day, working remotely to ensure I wouldn’t miss it. Yet, in the afternoon, I received a notification claiming a “delivery attempt was missed.” What an outright lie! No one came to my door, no one called me, and my front door camera captured zero signs of a UPS driver.
Determined to resolve this, I called UPS immediately. After detailing their failure, the call centre assured me they’d have the driver reattempt delivery. I specifically instructed them—three times—to leave the package at the mailbox by my door, as I wouldn’t be reachable by phone for a few hours. I also stressed the urgency of the situation, explaining that I was leaving for an international flight early Sunday morning, January 5th, and wouldn’t have anyone available to collect the package after Saturday.
What did they do? Completely disregard my instructions. When I got home later, I found missed calls and a voicemail stating they “reattempted” delivery but couldn’t reach me. Their solution? Reschedule delivery for Monday, January 6th—after I would already be out of the country.
This wasn’t just negligence; it was sheer incompetence. I called UPS again, wasting more time explaining the issue to yet another clueless representative. Her brilliant suggestion? Drive to their Lachine centre to pick up the package. I pointed out that it was already 9:30 PM and the centre closed at 8 PM. She then recommended I visit on Saturday—completely unaware that UPS centres don’t operate on weekends. How can a global shipping company function with such a lack of basic operational knowledge?
Eventually, I was escalated to a supervisor who promised to contact the team and arrange for the package to be delivered that evening. He even gave me a case number and assured me he’d call back within the hour. Surprise, surprise—no call, no package, no solution. When I attempted to follow up, I discovered the call centre had closed for the weekend.
This entire ordeal has been nothing short of a nightmare. UPS’s service is disorganized, their promises are hollow, and their communication is laughably bad. They failed to provide even the most basic level of customer service during a time-sensitive situation.
UPS, you’ve permanently lost my trust and my business. If anyone is reading this and considering using UPS, do yourself a favour and choose any other shipping company. It would be nearly impossible for them to perform worse than this fiasco.
I am not happy with UPS Canada
